CURRICULUM TO GO
ST. TERESA’S CATHOLIC SCHOOL
Dear Families,
Welcome to St. Teresa’s School! As you begin a new year with your child, we offer you an overview of what your child will learn and experience this year. It will surely be an exciting adventure as parents, administrators, teachers, and students work together to nurture God’s precious children in mind, body, and spirit.
The Curriculum that is taught at St. Teresa’s School is formulated by the Curriculum Committee of the Diocese of Savannah under the direction of the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent of Schools. This committee is composed of administrators and teachers who study the National Teaching Objectives for any given curriculum area, the State of Georgia Curriculum Standards as well as curriculum objectives from other states and dioceses. Taking the best from what they study, the committee then develops a unified curriculum with a logical progression of skills from one grade level to the next and with an infusion of gospel values. The work of the committee is cyclical, constantly revising curriculums to address the most recent changes in educational objectives and the desired performance of students.
The curriculum objectives are then given to the schools of the diocese where dedicated and devoted teachers digest them to discern how to provide the best learning experience for every student. The curriculum itself is only the beginning. It must constantly be implemented in relationship to the needs and abilities of the students.
We consider it a privilege to assist you, your child’s first teacher, in educating your child academically and in forming your child spiritually. We look forward to working closely with you as we take this journey, a journey that we hope will set your child on a blessed and beneficial course as a lifelong learner, a thoughtful thinker, and a Christian citizen.
Sincerely,
The Staff of St. Teresa’s Catholic School
