The pre-kindergarten (three and four year olds) and kindergarten programs emphasize a developmental learning approach that includes heavy emphasis on reading and math readiness, oral and written language development, hands-on learning opportunities, and creative expression through art and music.
Full and half day programs are offered with opportunities for brief rest, snack, and recreation/socialization time. The language arts program is based heavily on phonics and immersion in children’s literature. Concepts include letter identification and formation, letter-sound association, vowel/consonant identification, blending sounds and beginning reading. The manipulative-based math program introduces and develops a variety of concepts including patterns, numbers, sorting and classifying, graphing, measurement, and addition/subtraction readiness. Kindergarten students also learn about fractions, time, and money. Social science and science thematic units are included in the daily curriculum, along with religion.
